This post is just a reminder on how we handle our new backup mic system by distinguishing between music and speaker backup mics, as there have been several questions lately on how they work.

Each auditorium will retain a dedicated backup mic for music use (Called East Backup and West Backup). We’ve added a backup mic on Wireless 7 for a dedicated speaker backup mic that will float between auditoriums to follow the speaker of the day.

As a result of this, we will no longer maintain a “West Backup” on the East consoles or the “East Backup” on the West consoles. The “Speaker Backup” will appear on all consoles.

The East and West backup mics will remain backstage, and will only go out if a musicians mic fails, and will be carried by either the M2 or the Stage Manager. If Andy’s mic or an Welcome mic fails, the Speaker Host will bring the speaker backup mic up for that individual.
