Camera Numbering Change

With the addition of North Point Online, there have been a lot of changes that have followed.  The latest is the addition of a camera in the East auditorium.  This camera is located to the house left of the lighting booth.  I know this doesn’t necessarily warrant a blog post.  However, changing the camera numbers does, which is the intent of this post.

Starting this Sunday, (8/29) we are moving forward with a new camera numbering scheme.  It will change in BOTH auditoriums.  Please refer to the diagram to see the new layout.  Click the image to enlarge.  If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments section.

Currently, (8/26) PCO reflects the old numbering system.  Until this gets updated, please use it as a guide as to where you are scheduled, but use the new guide for your actual camera number.

Thanks, we’ll see you soon!

Video Countdown Change

picture-11As our services evolve, so do our tasks.  Therefore, we are changing / adding to the duties of the floating producer.  The one most pertinent to communicate is that they will be counting out of all videos, except for anything coming from sever delay.  The video director will continue to count in to video as they have previously.

Baptism Video

Unfortunately, a lot of times when we make changes to our production routines, it’s because something went awry.  That is the case here.  Recently, we had a flub with a baptism video, where the wrong one was played.  The problem is not that we played the wrong video, it’s a live environment where mistakes can happen.  We’ve all been there.  The problem is that we didn’t realize that we were playing the wrong video until it was too late and the video played in its entirety.

We are going to make a simple change that I believe will help to prevent this from happening again.  The video director will call for the video in this format; video number + first name, e.g. 9A-Mary.  In order for this to succeed, we have to battle against complacency, no matter how many times we do this successfully.  Baptisms are one of the most, if not the most important thing we do.

Racap Slide

racapWe have decided to add a 10B4 recap slide to show at the end of every service. We are triggering it from the switcher. On the custom control bus (where you play videos from) there is a button titled RECAP. It is a double-punch like the transition. Click it once to load it and another time to put it on air. Now the tricky part, After the slide airs, the switcher is set to hold for a minute then transition to the logo for five seconds, then transitions to quips. That’s it.

Baptism Zones

bap-establishAs you know, there are a lot of things here at North Point that are the same and don’t change. One of them is how we shoot baptisms. I would like for us to commit this to memory, so that there is never any confusion. If you need a refresher or don’t know, this is how we shoot baptisms: Out of the baptism video, we go to cam 3 on a wide push. Cam 3 should start their shot with the baptism area at the top and the IMAG screen just out of view. Then cut to Cam 2 just before the baptizer speaks on a tight two shot. Then just before the “dunk”, cut to cam 3, where they are framed just below the wood trim. From there we either go to the next video or to cam 1 on whomever is on stage. To recap, out of video we go to; cam 3, cam 2, cam 3, then video or cam 1.
