Volunteers

ABOUT THE NPCC PRODUCTION TEAM

The North Point Production Team is responsible for the live execution of audio, video, lighting, and stage elements in the Sunday morning service. The team consists of 170 rotating volunteers led by a handful of full-time staff. For a list of all the production positions that we use on a Sunday and a description of their roles, see the FAQ below. There is a separate group within the organization, the media team, that handles all of our pre and post production elements.

Q: How do you organize volunteers?

We formulate an open rotation (as opposed to “fixed” teams) each month using a online production scheduling software called Planning Center Online. There is also a tech schedule created every week that serves as a roadmap to Sunday morning programming elements. To see a sample of an East auditorium tech schedule, click here.

Q: How do you recruit volunteers?

Although there is an annual, church-wide, volunteer recruitment week, we find that most of our volunteers come to us on referral from existing volunteers. We ask that all potential team members complete an application and interview process. This helps us determine if the volunteer would be a good fit for our team and helps us decide what area on the production team would benefit the most from their interests and skills.

————————————————————————————————————
Q: How often do your production volunteers serve?

Each production volunteer serves a full day on Sunday (covering rehearsal and all three services) once every third or fourth week depending on their position. We ask that they commit to our team for at least a year of service in a given task.

Q: How do you train your production volunteers?

There are three main components to our training. First, we rely heavily on mentor-apprentice relationships between veteran volunteers and new trainees. A new volunteer will shadow and train along-side one of our seasoned “pros” before going solo. Secondly, we use an on-the-job review environment where a given team will meet between services to watch a recording, then evaluate and discuss the previous performance. Many times this becomes peer-to-peer review facilitated by a staff member. Lastly, we host advanced training sessions throughout the year to revisit mission/purpose, align team strategy and improve skills.
